Some random pics,  i have replace the 2.2head  to a 2.4head with 1mm lower,  and a tg pro camshaft.   works a little better.. but now i will begin to build to 2 x delorto

       i will replace the CIH with c20xe engine in the future..just have some more parts first.

Maybe made new exhaust one day..

Oilcooler termostat,maybe install it here.

C20XE engine mounts for my future project.

But first i will install 2 x delorto,hope the engine will go better.

Good job, but i guess you need higher filters.

I‘ve learned that you need round about 30 mm clearance between the stacks and the filter lid.

The xe engine is also a good choice.

Yes i think so too, i will tune in the engine first without filters and then i will try to mount them on again to see if it will bad or not,..or i have to use lower stacks (maybe cut and weld) or another filtertypes..  they have some here maybe i could use...

   i will paint up the engineroom when i will take out the cih for engine change and clean a bit, i want 2 x delorto on c20xe.  but i dont know if  40mm delorto will be to small the engine..    or maybe i will build the xe to "let"

This weekend i picked up the c20xe , will begin to dissasemble and overhaul it.

Or will you use some Carbs on it, and, what kind of gearbox? Making your
own oil sump or the big one from the Manta 18S?

I will use the 40mm carbs on it in the beginning if it work,, then convert the xe to let later with computerquirt /data splash,or what it names on english.  i don’t have the brain yet to the standard motronic system, so i will just use carbs in the beginning.

I will use R25 gearbox in the beginning, but i have manta 1.8 clutch house and searching for getrag265 gearbox.

I will use a custom made steel oilpan with ready made returns for oil from turbo. to use turbo later.  i will install H-rods first.  and turbo pistons later i think if i don’t install it in the same time.  it will be low comp without turbo then.    the reason i will do this way its because i need to have the orginal engine when i will have it in the papirs for my car.     so..   carbs with lowcomp pistons and h-rods is what i think i will try.  and install turbo with datasplash later.  then i don’t need to open the engine again.

I don’t have all the parts i need now,  i will finish the CIH engine with carbs, and continue to overhaul the c20xe and do it ready and buy the rest of parts i need.  I will paint the engineroom before the c20xe goes in too, and make it a little cleaner then it now.

2.2i calippers ,i will overhaul this with paint and gasket kit.

testing the delorto on the cih,  i need to modify the waternipple for some degrees cause it crash on one of the nut on the carb.

Now the engine is ready for dissasebeling

Is it still heavy to deliver without or with low tax to norway? Perhaps I can help to find some spare parts you missed there?

I also try to insert my C20XE from my killed ASTRA F into my Limousine. Keeping the Motronic 2.5, first with stock injection parts,
later there will be some tb with a diameter of 48 if possible. But I like to trust in the M2.5 Just look at my gallerie, see some pics.

The prices for a oil sump from the Manta B 18S, or, simular options like SBD-Dry-Sump, or others, are too expensive and far from each
reallity

 So I also think about making my own Big-Wing-Sump from a Stock-Steal-Sump of a c20NE engine. Perhaps I need some tries,
but how many tries are possible until a price of round about 300 Euro? 

And so... I keep watching your report, and, still be a fan of your car.

Ok, yes i will watch your gallerie

   well i only need the oilsump, gearbox, a axle between gearbox and rearaxle ,i think.  i have a 1.8 manta ignition part i will replace with the stock that stands in back of the head, i will use this in front.   i think i will find something.

I dont know what the diffrent is between Motronic M2.5 and the 2.5,  how can i find out when i don’t have the brain?  can i see on the color to the fuelsplashes that stand in the intake?  On mine is the color whiteyellow.

This evening i have get off the chaos, and begin to clean the engine.

Did you painted the head with standard car color, or is it heat resistant?

I can help you to distinguish

I can see it on your Pics, it is the M2.5, with the outstanding Ignition Distributor on the back of the head.
There are many differences between the 2.5 and the 2.8 Motronic. But this is the most obvious! 

Here you can see the M2.8 with the camshaft sensor instead of a 
Ignition Distributor (M2.5). So, this is easy now to distinguish

The type of belt drive is in stock different, but, can be use with both types of Motronic!
It is just my oOpinion, but I think both Motronics are good and bad, got its own problems.

Yeah thats true, i can remember it now,  yeah somebody use to take the heather away and build space for the ignitioncap.

It would be easyer to find a engine with the DIS ignition system, i mean, like in the first picture,  does it comes on XE with the new type of timingbelt system maybe?  or what year?  

I have XE with old timingbelt system.   i found a number on the block,,i think the engine was made in 17.08.1989

It is not a question of the timing belt system!

You can fit a "old" engine to use with M2.8 components. But it is not really cheap to find the parts!

Why change the Motronic, if your c20xe with M2.5 runs good?

But this all does not matter, if you still like to use carbs. In that case you have to use the Ignition 
of the 1.8S Manta engine...

Yes i will use the manta 1.8 ignition with carbs.

Today i have take off the top head and watch if everything looks ok,  just cleaned a little oil away.. i will paint all the grey parts. i think this engine will be total black maybe. I also check the sparkplugs ,all was very black,so the engine have not goes to lean afterall

i have install the overhaul kit on the 22e kaliper,,it was a rubber ring i don’t figure out where it should be..so i just install it over the seal metal ring.

the old seal was much bigger..but the new one fits good,i tought it was to small in the beginning.

A question about this, can i mount it in one the intake manifoil?  if it not got vacum the engine loose leaks some oil faster.

My plan is to use both holes from intake for the breaksylinder,but maybe it is enought with only one vacum?

The c20xe will have this ignition kit now  and the disturbutor will be remowed,  i will use the orginal motronic in first thime...and maybe carbs later..  i don’t know yet.   if i will use carbs i need to know what size of jets and venturys i can use with orginal camshafts..  the venturys now is  30mm only..maybe to small for an 2.0l?

New camshafts O-rings seals installed..  new cover gasket installet.. and bolts..  just installed cause i will turn the engine upside down,,and it have some oil rest inside..
