Mysterious GT/E

Hello from Norway! - have to take this in english...I got my hands on a GT/E last year (stored last 20 years in a barn!) and was hoping somone here could help me a bit regarding identity of the car. The car in question is a C1 GT/E but according to the chassie number it is a 1978 model. And this does not make any sence as the 78‘s should be a C2/1000er version? It looks like a C1, it‘s yellow/black, has the A in the trunk, original 1.9E engine and airbox, the bumpers are bolted in 4 places +++But why is it a C1? Didn‘t the C2 go in production late -77? Via an Opelclub here in Norway I have gotten some information:Engine number: 19E 0075991, produced in September 1977Aluminium plate in frontpanel:
Chassis nr: 3282539132 (the 8th indicates it‘s a 1978 model, the car is also registrated as a 1978 in papers, first time 20/4-78)
Color: L 445 200 362 (445 = Briliant Yellow color on top, 200 = black color bottom, 262 = black/yellow checkered seats)My contact at the Opelclub here in Norway say this car is made in Bochum early 1977 (and from November -77 all coupe‘s start with 96 in chassie number and not 32 as mine does).Steel plate in front panel:

¤ is where the fastening nites are so i had to make a guess about the numbers... So, can anyone tell me more about this car with this numbers and info? This car is a very plain car with few extras, the only thing I can see is the rear rubber spoiler and maybe the interval function of the front window vipers, no differential brake, no 5-speed gearbox, no frontspoiler, no "GT/E" or Engelmann side mirrors, no Recaro interior, no extra lights, no fixed rear side windows...HILFE!

ich möcht mal ein wenig die codierung aufschlüsseln. Habt ihr lust mitzuhelfen, da ich nun eine meine Grenzen stoße.

Sollte Jemand noch einen Code wissen einfach posten, ich aktualisiere dann das Bild. Und wenn jemand die Fahrgestellnummer aufschlüsseln kann, werde ich davon auch noch ein Bild machen.

I see I have made some mistakes, the number I wrote as 610 should be 619 and 151K should be 51K, got rid of all the dust from the plate

. But does someone have a clue about this C1 beeing a 1978 model car?

And as for the number 599 - "without front seat belts", this is probably correct as we had a stupid rule here in Norway up to the mid 80‘s about safety equipment in cars. Such things as seat belts had to have a "N" marking (N for Norway) and because of this originally installed seat belts could not be approved in Norway and aftermarket belts were installed locally in Norway, a pity as many cars originally had colour matched belts with the rest of the interior.

Hey there!

Here a message from Holland, with... also a curious GT/E.
I bought mine last Friday in Switserland & it had been there all its life.
From Opel I got confirmed that my chassis number left the productionline in October 1977 as a C1 1.9 GT/E.
But... it has a 13 in the trunk!! The C2 production was started in June/July ‘77, but apparently, in some countries they still sold C1‘s.
Mine was first registered in Switserland in March 1978.

It is indeed later than yours & an explanation might be, that they first used the all the A-chassis from June-Sept to build C1 GT/E‘s and then switched over to the 13-chassis & still built some C1‘s...

By the way; I did see four C1 GT/E‘s (in various states of need of restoration...) before finally finding this one & none of them had the Adrema.

L = Handbremskontroll-/Kupplungsverschleißleuchte + Überwachung des Bremsflüssigkeitsbehälters
[you might need google-translate for that! it is the warninglight-function for handbreak/clutch/breakoil]

The 573-code on both our GT/E Adrema‘s still amazes me... In later C2‘s, this number indicates ‘Rallye‘. But at the time of production of our car, the Rallye C2‘s were not yet introduced...

Furthermore, your car has an earlier chassisnumber than mine, but my enginenr is 24 engines ‘earlier!

Regarding the 3550639 on the steel plate:

3 = 3rd quarter, so starting in July.
55 = 55th day in that quarter = 24th of August
639 = 639th car that day

Mine has 3650621, so 11 days later on 3 September. (but Opel/GM says 3 Okt...?)

But with 11 days apart, they are almost brothers!

I‘m still very interested of the "mysterious" GT/E‘s.

I just got an idea about the differences between the production number and the production date of Opel: Perhaps it may be possible that the production number describes the beginning of the production of the car, and the production date of Opel is the date of the finishing of production. In case of your car probably the gear box or anything else temporarely wasn‘t available and so the production date steps forward some days. Another idea will be, that the date of Opel is the date when the car was delivered out of the stock of the Opel factory.

...but these statements are just my crazy ideas...

Edit: Habe gerade gemerkt, dass du ja deutsch kannst, Martin. Ich denke, es ist aber auch auf ‘meinem‘ Englisch verständlich.

English geht prima bei mir, aber so auch Deutsch!

Unser Norwegischer Freund kann dann dieser Teil ueber GoogleTranslate lesen!

Das mit den Linienablauf & festgelegter GM/Opel-Produktionstag klinkt eigentlich ganz logisch...

Mir bleibt die ‘Geschichte‘ natuerlich auch wundern... Damals schon bevor ich das Auto kaufte & mir -nach den vielen Bilder & vor Arbreise richting Auto/Schweiz- auf einmal die Nr13 nachts wieder vor augen kam... Als dann Opel den naechsten Tag mir bestaetigte -anhand der Fahrgestellnummer- das Auto sei wirklich als 1.9 GT/E gelb/schwarz in Oktober ‘77 vom Band gelaufen, war ich etwas mehr beruhigt.

Also vom OHF also jetzt die dritte C1/573, mit Produktionsnummer 3910472, also 91-65 = 23 Tage juenger als Meiner!

Aber dieses Auto ist dann kein GT/E, sondern wirklich einer der ersten 2.0 Rallye & dann in gelb/schwarz! Sollte eigentlich auch vom KFZBrief klar werden!?

Hmmm, an dem Adremaschild aus Norwegen fällt mir auf dass die Zahlen eingeschlagen wurden....das hab ich so noch nicht original gesehen...

Bei den anderen beiden Adremas sieht man schön das die von der Unterseite geprägt wurden.

man muss vorsichtig mit den Schlüsselnummern sein

!!  Manche Schlüsselnummern haben sich manchmal im laufe der Zeit in ihrer Bedeutung geändert. Die 573 bedeutete bis ca. Oktober 1977 " Paket Super Sport-Ausstattung ". Ab ca. Oktober 1977 bedeutet die 573 dann " Opel Rallye Ausstattung ". Zu den Fahrgestellnummern: Die dritte Zahl der Fahrgestellnummer bedeutet das Modelljahr in dem das Auto produziert wurde und hat mit dem Baujahr nichts zu tun. Das heißt, die 8 steht für das Modelljahr 1978 ( von ca. Juli 1977 bis ca. Juli 1978 ). Das Modelljahr 1979 geht dann von ca. Juli 1978 bis ca. Juli 1979. Dieses System gilt auch noch heute in der Automobilherstellung. Das Modelljahr muss nicht gleich dem Baujahr des Autos sein. Also kurz gesagt handelt es sich bei den mysteriösen Kadetten um einen GT/E 1, Modelljahr 1978 mit der Schlüsselnummer 573 (Paket Super Sport-Ausstattung). Ich hoffe, ich konnte etwas Licht ins dunkle bringen

Also kurz gesagt handelt es sich bei den mysteriösen Kadetten um einen GT/E 1, Modelljahr 1978 mit der Schlüsselnummer 573 (Paket Super Sport-Ausstattung). Ich hoffe, ich konnte etwas Licht ins dunkle bringen

Hoert sich logisch an. Habe ‘super sport kadett adrema‘ mal an Google gefuettert & fand dann gleich diesen Beitrag aus 2005!

Also noch ein C1 GT/E, aber dann Signalgelb!
